The revenue for Ghostrunner 2 reached $6 million

Within five days of its release, the game recouped its development cost of $4.2 million.

Ghostrunner 2, developed by One More Level studio, has been a big success, making over $6 million (which is about PLN 24.4 million) in just one week after its release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

This sequel to the 2020 first-person action game not only covered its production costs of $4.2 million (PLN 16.7 million) but also made a profit of $1.93 million (PLN 7.7 million).

The game comes in different editions, but the reported revenue only includes the standard edition, priced at $39.99. It doesn’t even count the extra editions that cost $49.99 and $69.99.

This positive news is particularly significant given the recent layoffs announced by Digital Bros, the parent company of the game’s publisher, 505 Games. They mentioned players being pickier with new game releases as a reason for the layoffs.

Although we don’t have exact sales numbers, SteamDB data for Ghostrunner 2 shows a peak player count of 2,264. For comparison, the original Ghostrunner had 11,294 players shortly after its release in 2020, three years ago.

It’s worth noting that One More Level supported the first Ghostrunner with extra content, keeping players engaged. In contrast, Ghostrunner 2 has only been out for a month and hasn’t received any additional content yet.
