A subscription paywall is coming to Google Bard Advanced

Google has exciting plans for its Bard AI chatbot, similar to the OpenAI ChatGPT Plus subscription model. During a recent Q4 earnings call, the tech giant revealed that it intends to introduce a subscription-based model for the enhanced version, Bard Advanced.

While details about the cost and release date remain undisclosed, the current version of Bard is accessible for free, in contrast to the $20 monthly fee for ChatGPT-4 Plus.

Bard Advanced is designed to offer more intricate and superior responses, leveraging the power of Gemini Ultra, Google’s upcoming multimodal large language model set for an early 2024 launch.

Bard currently operates on Gemini Pro, competing with GPT-3.5, but Google positions Ultra as a model capable of rivaling and, in some instances, surpassing GPT-4.

Given the anticipation surrounding Gemini Ultra, it is anticipated that users may need to pay a comparable price to OpenAI’s premium tier for access to this advanced generative AI.
