Microsoft Web App Store for Windows; Finding apps and games in more easier way 

New UI and easier ways to find apps have been added to the web version of the Microsoft Store by Microsoft.

For Windows users, Microsoft has launched a new web version of its app store. Links on the site open the Microsoft Store client in Windows 10 or Windows 11 as a replacement for the existing way to find Windows apps on the web.

Microsoft Store’s previous web version relied on React code, but the new version uses Shoelace, Lit, Vite, and a C# ASPNET backend instead.

“The previous website relied on a React codebase using an outdated UI framework,” shared Judah Gabriel, a Microsoft engineer, in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “We’ve introduced a brand-new user experience featuring a meticulously crafted interface, simplified methods for discovering new apps, and a cutting-edge web technology stack. I believe users will find it incredibly valuable and user-friendly.”

The revamped web store simplifies the process of searching for Windows apps and Xbox PC games, which can be downloaded via the primary Microsoft Store app on Windows. It’s important to note that this web store isn’t a replacement for the main Microsoft Store app; instead, consider it as the web interface complementing the app store on Windows. They function seamlessly together, clarified Gabriel.

Microsoft could benefit significantly from this new web interface, especially since it plans to expand its range of apps and games beyond Windows. Microsoft’s Xbox chief, Phil Spencer, disclosed earlier this year that the company is developing a mobile gaming store for Xbox. This strategic move aligns with anticipating regulatory changes that might compel companies like Apple and Google to open their mobile app stores.

Thanks to the EU’s Digital Markets Act, Microsoft’s Xbox mobile gaming store is poised to launch by 2024. To enhance discoverability in search results and links on social media networks, a web interface will be crucial for its success.
