The Google Maps app is now able to show Immersive Views, among other AI features
Google has ushered in a new era of navigation with the rollout of Immersive View for routes, a groundbreaking feature announced at Google I/O. This innovative tool leverages the power of AI to provide users with a multidimensional journey experience. It seamlessly integrates billions of Street Views and aerial images to offer vivid visual turn-by-turn directions, complete with simulated traffic and weather conditions. The initial release of Immersive View for routes covers 15 vibrant cities, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Florence, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Tokyo, and Venice. It’s available for Android and iOS users, enhancing the navigation experience for millions.

But the enhancements don’t stop there. Google Maps is also introducing a significant expansion of its Lens in Maps feature, allowing users to find nearby ATMs, transit stations, restaurants, coffee shops, and stores with ease. This feature will be accessible in 50 new cities, including Austin, Las Vegas, Rome, São Paulo, and Taipei, providing travelers with valuable local insights.
Electric vehicle (EV) drivers will now find it more convenient to locate charging stations through Google Maps. The feature not only pinpoints the nearest charging stations but also provides information about their compatibility with different EV models and charging speeds, making it a game-changer for eco-conscious motorists.
Google Maps has also harnessed the power of AI to improve its search feature. Users can now conduct more specific searches, such as finding the best “animal latte art” or locating a “pumpkin patch to visit with your dog.” In response, Maps offers engaging photo results, enhancing the user experience. This feature is currently available in select countries like France, Germany, Japan, the UK, and the US, with plans for further expansion.
In addition to these remarkable updates, Google has introduced a new “Immersive View” feature that transforms flat images into 3D representations of landmarks and buildings, providing users with a more realistic preview of their destinations. While available in select cities, Google aims to expand this feature to more locations shortly.
