Gmail is also getting emoji reactions

Because sometimes, emojis make the best responses.

Gmail now offers a new feature that can be especially useful when you’re pressed for time or when a brief and less formal response suffices for certain emails. Google has introduced emoji reactions for Gmail, allowing you to respond to emails in a manner similar to how you react to instant messages. So, when you find yourself without much to say, you can simply express your reaction with an emoji.

Google has begun rolling out this feature to Android devices, and you’ll know it’s available when you spot a smiley face icon at the bottom of an email while using the app. By tapping on this icon, you can access a menu offering various emoji options for your response. Additionally, these reactions will appear alongside the icon, and some of them come with delightful animations. For instance, if you select the party popper emoji, you can expect digital confetti to grace your screen when sending or receiving messages with party popper reactions.

However, it’s worth noting that this feature might be less enjoyable for recipients using email platforms other than Gmail, as each reaction will arrive as a separate email in their inbox.

Although emoji reactions are currently available exclusively on Android devices, Google plans to extend this feature to iOS devices and the web in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates as it becomes more widely accessible across various platforms.
